Reflection Paper – Bloom’s Taxonomy of Education Objectives

I learned from our discussion about Bloom’s taxonomy of education objectives is the level of thinking required in the cognitive domain of objectives. There are two other domains of learning, namely psychomotor and affective. According to Bloom’s theory there are six categories and samples for each level:
·         Knowledge category was renamed into remembering in order to be more comprehensive to us in creating a question for our pupils. In making objectives based of this category we are using identifying, describing, naming, recognizing, listing, retrieving and labeling. These kinds of strategies in making lesson plan in actual teaching helps the pupils aware of their learning capacity. What we emphasized is the participation of the pupils during class sessions.
·         Understanding, the learner grasps the learning of information by interpreting and translating what has been learned. Meaning the teaching methods should be the teacher do is to help interpret ideas which are difficult to understand by the pupils.
·          Applying, the learner makes use of information in a context different from the one in which it was learned. This category emphasized how to elaborate and implementing topics in playing, make a scrapbook and writing their reflection based of lessons given.
·         Analyzing, the learner breaks learned information into its parts to best understand that information. Student interest and motivation are enhanced by questions that help students relate what they are learning to their own background knowledge, experience, and values.
·         Evaluating, the learner makes decisions based on in-depth reflection criticism and assessment. This will be the category that the students will determined their learning capabilities in terms of assessing their output by giving problems solving based on topics discussed.
·         Evaluation/Creating, this category will focus on decision making in which students support their ideas of any issues/topics arises. At the end of the class, student can now submit a written output in order measures their learning level against a set of standards.
I realized that these criteria in making objectives of my future pupils/student will be my guidelines to better teaching methods for evaluating their learning capacity. Assessing students by using questions requiring higher-order thinking, teacher questioning moves beyond an assessment tool. I will make questions that classified by application, analysis, synthesis and evaluation.
Soon, if I have the opportunity to be a teacher, I will apply all my teaching strategies in my classroom. I will use new technology gadget especially if I will assign in hinterland school. I know the fact that these communities are not priorities of government projects and infrastructure. The development of this community depend the effort of local government official.

Reflection Paper – Instructional Objectives
I learned from our discussion last October 5, 2012-10-16 about “Instructional Objectives”, we discussed on how to composed a learning objective in lesson plan based of the pattern to provide direction for both the student and the teacher. It allows both the teacher and the student to know where they are going and at what point they have reached the destination. The learner and the instructor have firm criteria by which the learner’s progress and level of competency maybe assessed at a specific point in time. Specifies the conditions under which the task is to be performed, and sets the minimum standard to which the student must in order to pass with 70% accuracy. According to Dr. Olga, objectives that set a condition in a given objectives in order to meet the level learning capacity of the students. The performance objective is measurable/observable, to let the expectation of students to perform a quality of task. Another is behaviour; we can determine their performance by weighing his learning acquisition in giving quizzes, activity that enhance his cognitive development. The performance of student identifies based on assessment results. The achievement of students depends of the methods of teaching. And the last one is criteria, the expectancy of learner must raised into higher from given accuracy rate because this will determined the function and performance of the teacher in their actual teaching.
I realized that how creative the mind of a teacher in giving lessons to their pupils. The objectives will be the guidelines of the teacher to meet the standard learning of the pupils; and enhance the structured learning into transformation of individual behaviour.
If I will become a teacher someday, my actual performance of teaching relies on how creative my presentations. I should be observant and find more strategies based of their thinking level. Applying new technology in teaching will be more attractive to the learner.

Reflection Paper – Gagne’s Conditioning Application

Last September 5, 7, 10, and 12, 2012, we continue our discussion on Gagne’s theory and we divide the whole class into groups to make a lesson plan out of Gagne’s theory, and assigned one member to discuss the said lesson plan. Each group has specific objectives given and presents it to the class with instructional materials. Topics that presented were – Parts of the Speech which is adjective (English). My observation was, the lesson presented (Adjective) is not suitable for the learning capacity of grade 2 pupils, maybe the reporter must study further of her topic in order to comprehend the pupils with correct usage of adjective. Next topic discuss is amphibians (Science), the presentation is not quiet good because she is not express her idea about the topic which is amphibians. Another two topics presented are addition and colours and shapes; the reporter prepared instructional materials which is attractive and comprehensive to the learner. Last topic is reading alphabets AB & C, the reporter prepared a motivation by singing alphabets rhyme. He prepare letters from A, B & C for his demonstration and let the pupils read with corresponding word out from letter A which is (Apple), letter B which is (Banana), and letter C which is (Carrot). He brought an actual illustration out these 3 words.
I realized during that period of actual discussion, the teachers must prepare well; the instructional materials, study, and read the topics carefully. In order to captured the attention of the pupils during the actual presentation. All the teaching methods must be applied. According to Gagne’s theory, enhancing retention and transfer of learning must applying in real-life situations is a step towards mastery and learning
I will be creative in my own ways to enhance the learning structures of my pupil. I will be more reflective in my discussion. The values of patience and perseverance must also be developing towards dealing with the children.

My Teacher, My Hero
When I pass by in front of Sport Center Building I saw a huge tarpaulin hang on bearing a message “Salutes all the Filipino teachers” Being a teacher is not easy to manage a classroom, a lot of routine that we have to fix including our personal life. Although, a teacher is the second parent of the children while the children at school. We must be a learner for our own field so that we can adjust our life towards other people. The teacher has a structured setting but in actual learning it varies their teaching style. We should keep in touch with our children when they are inside the classroom and we must be observant of their actions. It is our responsibility as a second parent to asked and evaluates the condition of the children whenever there are unusual feelings and illnesses arises during classes. Teacher should be a model to all students. Our thinking and our word must be parallel to our actions. We must show to them ourselves being a leaders and stewards. Today's, generation, teacher should be attentive to the needs of students in term of moral aspect because this is the period where they explore their self towards their peers and friends.
“My teacher, my hero” it's signifies that at present the teachers has given a big applauded by our institution because of their untiring contributions of the development of individuals through education. Teachers in the community are given many tasks especially during election, local and national. These are the noble tasks that embrace by the teachers. We should admire and proud of them for what they have done to us. We all know that they are preparing lessons for our children for the next day, waking-up early and go to school where they assign. Teachers are molding knowledge based of principles of learning, creating interesting motivation in order to deepen our understanding to equip us as a future leaders. Teacher is our model and hero; we always admire them to be a good one. Teachers develop a wholesome images base on principles of teaching profession, ethics and values. They are compassionate and responsible of all their undertaking in terms of individual learning especially young learners.
To become a teacher is my greatest dream, my foremost and priority to reach with the help and guidance of GOD, because without Him we can do nothing. We give much appreciation and thanks to all our teachers. “A good teacher recognizes that each pupil has a different talent lying hidden and unexplored. His duty is to unearth it and help it blossom.”

Reflection Paper – Constructivism (Educational Theory)

na tungalian o conflictsbahagiat masisira.g-timbang, hindi ako gagawa ng kasalananldren. the
An educational theory that places emphasis on the learner, teacher’s role acts as facilitator of development from sensory motor where the child is unaware that if an object is not seen it still exist; pre-operational where the child need concrete physical situation and is unable to conceptualize in the abstract (e.g. to see, hear, feel in order to understand something); concrete where the child create logical structure to explain his/her environment and lastly formal operations where the child cognitive structures are like an adult and include conceptual reasoning which focuses of the mind and its effect on learning. Another psychologist who aspired in learning relates to social constructivism is Lev Vigotsky where He emphasized the effects of one’s environment like our own family, friends, tradition and background.
I realized that these theories have used for many years as principles of teaching and learning integrate in different subjects especially from elementary pupils, particularly John Piaget’s theories are useful in child growth while his cognitive structures develop. At present, as modern technologies rise up, modern constructivism created according to Jerome Bruner which he incorporate the social and cognitive aspects which he introduces the Five E’s. Engage – let the pupils interested the lesson discussed (e.g. defined, ask question); Explore – use their inquiry to drive the process, by engaging question let them to analyze one problem and make a concrete solution; Explain – teacher determine their level of understanding by giving activity; Elaborate – make connections out from their inquiry relate from actual learning; Evaluate – give assignments, quiz or group discussion to measures their learning.
If I will be the teacher who facilitates learning using these theories, I will make comprehensive my style in order to adjust the learning capacity of the children. The five E’s of Bruner will apply for teaching methods. Evaluation in each topic should be done to measures the learning assimilation.
