Reflection Paper – Educational System of Australia
February 11, 2013

The Department of Education and Training (DET) recognizes the importance of the early years of a child's life and its impact on a child's health, well being and lifelong learning. The Early Years framework aligns the departments priorities to support young children and their families to achieve the best from their early childhood years.

The early years of a child's life are the most important for learning and development. The Families as First Teachers-Indigenous Parenting Support Services Program builds family knowledge of early learning through active engagement in quality early childhood education programs. Play based programs support families through modelling, side by side engagement and discussion. Resources have been developed to give families information about how young children learn and how parents can make the most of everyday opportunities.

The Australian government gives priority the development of humanity through their quality education. The progress of nation relies the skills and the modern technology. Australia education is compulsory when the child reach at 6 years old. Primary education is provided by government and non-government primary school. After primary school, junior secondary level which is four years. The age level of children in this level is from 12 to 16 years old. At he end of junior secondary level, a Junior Secondary Certificate of Education (Year 10 Certificate) is awarded. A senior secondary level is provided for two 2 years after the junior secondary level. Students are from 16-18 years in this level. From the primary to the secondary levels, most students are enrolled in government schools which operate under the responsibility of the State
As I observed the presentation and studying the system, I could say that, the government give emphasized how to captures the basic and quality education through their teaching methodology. Primary schooling in most states and territories begins with a preparatory or kindergarten year, followed by six or seven primary grades, then a further five or six years to complete a full secondary course of study. Vocational Education and Training (VET) is government program preparing people for work in a career that does not need a university degree while Technical and Further Education (TAFE) also a program provides the funding for universities in all state students pursue their studies 3-4 years in university. In terms of wages and allowance their state is excellent in giving enough compensation for teachers.
Learning is a shared responsibility between the individual and the department. Everyone has an obligation to take charge of their own development and the department has an obligation to offer a cultural environment that is conducive to learning.
